Somnia Launches Devnet for 400k TPS Blockchain Testing
Somnia has launched its Devnet, giving developers and Web3 users a chance to experience its high-performance blockchain
Designed for mass-consumer applications like games, SocialFi, DeFi, and metaverses, Somnia promises to shake things up in the blockchain world.
Somnia’s internal tests show jaw-dropping results—processing over 400,000 transactions per second (TPS) with sub-second finality. Transaction costs? Less than a penny, even when the network is packed.
Open Testing and Big Opportunities
This lightning speed comes from Somnia’s cutting-edge technology, including its custom IceDB database, advanced compression methods, and a Multistream Consensus system that speeds up execution and networking.
To make life easier for developers, Somnia is fully EVM-compatible, meaning they can use Ethereum-familiar tools to build apps. Even better, Somnia supports real-time reactions to on-chain events directly in Solidity, making it ideal for building fully decentralized, reactive apps like games and live applications.

Unlike most Devnets, Somnia’s Devnet is inviting everyone to join the fun. Public testing will be available during specific hours, giving users the chance to explore the first batch of dApps, such as a decentralized exchange (DEX), NFTs, and games. Testers can use Somnia Test Tokens (STT) through a faucet to try out the blockchain.
Somnia is also opening doors for developers. It’s hosting a $10 million grant program to help developers bring their ideas to life. The program offers funding, technical support, and go-to-market strategies. Developers can also apply for whitelisting to join Somnia’s first cohort.
More About Somnia
Somnia has partnered with leading players like Ankr for RPC services, Hemera for blockchain indexing, and thirdweb for easy Web3 tools. These partnerships ensure a smooth experience for developers, covering everything from infrastructure to app creation.
Hemera is excited to announce the first high performance EVM-compatible L1 partner @Somnia_Network , providing programmable and verifiable data infrastructure to the ecosystem.

Somnia’s public Devnet is more than just a testing ground. It’s a way to gather real-world feedback and fine-tune its technology. By “building in public,” Somnia aims to prove it’s ready to handle the world’s data on-chain, making blockchain faster, cheaper, and more accessible for everyone.
