Vitalik: I am looking forward to Verkle Tries, which will greatly improve the experience of independent verifiers.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted on social media saying, "I'm really looking forward to Verkle Trees. They will enable stateless validator clients, allowing stake validation nodes to take up almost no disk space and sync almost immediately - greatly improving the experience for independent validators. It's also very beneficial for user-friendly light clients."
BlockBeats Note: Verkle Tries is a data structure similar to Merkle Patricia Trees (MPT), which is the data structure used by Ethereum today. Although Verkle Tries use a tree structure similar to MPT, the key difference is that each node uses a special type of hash (called a vector commitment) to submit to its child nodes. These vector commitments provide some important long-term benefits and help pave the way for Ethereum's statelessness.
