Vitalik: 3x less confidence in the concept of “simplifying L1 even at the expense of more complex L2”
Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin said on social media that, to be honest, my confidence in the concept of "simplifying L1 even if it sacrifices more complex L2" has decreased by three times compared to five years ago. The problem is that when weighing the risks of L1 errors and L2 errors, it is not clear whether the latter is better.
If there is a consensus failure in L1, core developers will be busy for a day, but everything will eventually return to normal. If there is an L2 error, people may permanently lose a large amount of funds.
Therefore, I believe it is actually worth adding some quite complex L1 functions to reduce the code burden of L2 and make it relatively simple.
