Solana Foundation: Offensive memecoin issues can be filtered out
During a panel discussion on memetic coins at the BUIDL Asia Summit in Seoul, Austin Federa, the communications director of the Solana Foundation, stated that selection means wallet developers have the right to blacklist. Almost every wallet in every ecosystem filters out junk NFTs and junk tokens. If users are willing, they always have the ability to reveal something, but the core network needs to remain unauthorized. Federa stated that validators and nodes have a legal obligation to review certain content, citing the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions on Tornado Cash transactions and sanctions on North Korea and other crypto wallets.
