Macquarie Bank in Australia has stopped providing cash and check services to customers. Starting later this month, customers will no longer be able to use cash or checks to deposit or withdraw funds at bank offices. In addition, the bank has announced that it has stopped automatic telephone banking services and suspended the possibility of telephone payments. Macquarie stated on its online portal that it is committed to "transitioning to completely digital payments and continuing to ensure our customers have access to secure and reliable digital payment options." The bank also claims that "digital banking is a safe, fast, and more convenient way to transact, as you can view and track transactions and other account activity in real time." However, Macquarie customers can still withdraw cash from ATMs.
