The opening ceremony of the summit invited four Hong Kong Legislative Council members to serve as guests of honor, including Dr. Joseph Lee, Mr. Charles Mok, Mr. Dennis Kwok, and Mr. Ronny Tong. Dr. Joseph Lee, a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council, emphasized Hong Kong's active promotion of Web3 development as an international financial and innovation center. Since the release of the "Policy Declaration on the Development of Virtual Assets in Hong Kong" in October 2022, the virtual asset (VA) market has rapidly developed, demonstrating the government's commitment to exploring industry financial innovation. The government approved the listing of Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs in December 2022 and established a licensing system and regulatory requirements for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) on June 1, 2023. Retail investors can now access Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETH) trading services.
