Glassnode: The number of active Bitcoin addresses has dropped to the lowest level since 2019
Glassnode data shows that after the halving in April 2024, the number of active Bitcoin addresses decreased significantly due to the surge in transaction fees and network congestion. Part of this increase in fees is due to the emergence of new protocols such as Runes, which has affected the utility of Bitcoin in daily transactions, resulting in a significant decline in network activity. Although the current number of active addresses has dropped to its lowest point since 2019, Bitcoin has returned to near its historical high.
