Trump campaign received nearly $300 million in funding in May

On June 3rd local time, former US President Trump's campaign team announced that they and the Republican National Committee (GOP) raised $141 million in May. This is far higher than the $76 million they raised in April. The Trump campaign team stated that the May fundraising was due to grassroots small-dollar donations, with an average donation of $70.27, and 25% of donors were first-time Trump donors. In addition to the fundraising by the Trump campaign team and the Republican National Committee, external committees supporting Trump raised $150 million in May. Therefore, it is estimated that the Trump campaign team had nearly $300 million in funds in May.

According to the Federal Election Commission's regulations, the Trump campaign team does not need to disclose its May fundraising until the end of June. Therefore, their early disclosure of the fundraising amount is also considered to be an attempt to convey the message that "Trump has gained more support" to the outside world.

Biden's campaign team has not yet disclosed the total amount of fundraising in May. Data released by both sides in April showed that the Trump and Republican camps raised $76 million in April, exceeding the $51 million reported by Biden and the Democratic National Committee that month for the first time.
