Fairshake, a U.S. crypto PAC, spends $2 million on attack ads targeting New York lawmakers
On June 18th, it was reported that Fairshake, a political action committee (PAC) supported by cryptocurrency companies including Ripple and Coinbase, has invested over $2 million to oppose the incumbent representative in the Democratic primary for the 16th Congressional District of New York. According to data from the US Federal Election Commission, this funding will primarily be used for media advertising aimed at preventing the re-election of Democratic Congressman Jamaal Bowman. As of June 16th, external interest groups have contributed approximately $9 million to resist Bowman, who will face off against fellow Democrat George Latimer in the primary on June 25th. Fairshake's attack ads do not directly mention cryptocurrency or blockchain, but instead accuse Congressman Bowman of "promoting dangerous conspiracy theories" throughout his career.
