Odaily News The question of whether a bipartisan bill to restrict lawmakers stock trading should also apply to their cryptocurrency holdings has divided the two sponsors of the House stock ban legislation. Reports say Rep. Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., and Rep. Chip Roy, R-Sask., are leading the push for the bill, which would require stocks to be placed in a blind trust so that lawmakers cant trade on privileged information. Spanberger insists that stocks and cryptocurrencies are similar in that their value can be influenced by lawmakers. Their conflict is the latest indicator of the nascent crypto industrys growing visibility in Washington, and with more than $100 million in funding to support the election of crypto-friendly politicians who could help create a more favorable regulatory environment, Chip Roy doesnt think so.
