Vitalik: Ethereum network should respond to 51% attacks in a more automated way
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, advocated for better preparation of the Ethereum network for 51% attacks during his keynote speech at ETHCC in Brussels. He believes that automatic responses should be prepared for such attacks to alleviate pressure on the social layer. The potential response to such attacks is to have honest validators switch to a fork of the chain, and the current plan will largely rely on social consensus and community efforts to achieve consensus on the fork. However, Buterin believes that it would be better if the network could be better prepared for such responses. He stated that such responses are largely automated and pre-planned.
