Powell: Hasn't spoken to Biden in two years, hasn't noticed cognitive decline before
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell says he has seen nothing in his phone calls or meetings with President Joe Biden that suggests a mental or cognitive decline. They last spoke more than two years ago. Rep. Mike Lawler asked Powell if he has had any private meetings with Biden since the May 2022 public meeting. Powell said, "I haven't met with him. He has no plans to set up a meeting with me, and I certainly have no plans to do so. It's not surprising that there hasn't been a meeting with the president recently because the Fed is an independent agency and Biden has always respected that." Asked if he had noticed any signs of mental or cognitive decline in the president during their interactions, Powell said he had not.
