Failed Login Attempts Reported on Mt. Gox Creditors' Accounts During Repayment Process
Creditors of the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange Mt. Gox have reported multiple failed login attempts on their accounts. This comes as the exchange has started to repay its creditors. Reddit users have reported as many as 22 failed login attempts, suggesting that someone is trying to gain control of these accounts and potentially withdraw any Bitcoin received. The Mt. Gox claims portal is currently down for maintenance. Users with 2FA-enabled accounts are presumed to be safe from these login attempts. Over $9 billion worth of Bitcoin and $73 million of Bitcoin Cash will be distributed to traders impacted by the 2014 hack in the coming months.
