The number of transactions and active addresses on the Base chain both hit record highs
According to data from The Block, the number of transactions and active addresses on the Base chain have both hit historical highs. On July 15th, the Base chain recorded 3.28 million transactions. As of the end of the week on July 19th, this number had climbed to 3.52 million transactions, with an average daily growth rate of about 1.8% over the week.
At the same time as the surge in transaction volume, the number of active addresses on Base also hit a historical high. The number of active addresses increased from 567,000 on July 15th to nearly 650,000 on July 19th (Friday), with an average daily growth rate of about 3.5% over the same period.
Meanwhile, Base's fees have seen a significant surge, with fees collected on July 20th reaching the highest daily total in over a month at $177,000.
In terms of total value locked (TVL) on the chain, Base still lags behind Arbitrum. As of the time of writing, Base's TVL is $1.77 billion, while Arbitrum's TVL is $3.25 billion.
