There is a New Development in the Billions of Dollar Bitcoin Payment of Bankrupt Mt Gox: Here’s the Announcement
There is a new development regarding the billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash payments of the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange Mt Gox.
Bitstamp, a major cryptocurrency exchange, Mt. Gox announced that the assets they distributed to creditors are now fully accessible.
This development took place after the necessary security checks were completed. The news was welcomed by Bitstamp users, some of whom took to Reddit to confirm that they had received their Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) holdings.
“We are pleased to say that the credited assets we distributed to Mt. Gox creditors through Bitstamp are now fully accessible following the completion of security checks,” Bitstamp said. “We thank you for your patience. A separate distribution plan will be implemented for our customers in the UK. From the trustee of Mt. Gox We will inform you as soon as we receive further information.”
A Mt. on Reddit. Gox customer shared his experience: “I check the system every few hours and my last check shows that both BTC and BCH are available for withdrawal.”
Currently, the bankrupt exchange has 90,344 BTC worth approximately $6 billion in its wallets.
Bitstamp, Mt. Gox trustee's Mt. Gox is one of five exchanges it is working with to return funds to creditors. Mt. Gox has sent 10,216 BTC ($675.9 million) to Bitstamp so far.
