US Presidential candidate Donald Trump, who stands out with his support for Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, announced in recent months that he accepted BTC and altcoin donations for his election campaign.
Since then, Trump has raised over $4 million in crypto donations.
According to CNBC, US Presidential candidate Donald Trump collected over $4 million from donations, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP, USDC and various meme coins.
While Bitcoin constituted $2.15 million of the donations exceeding $4 million, it was stated that the collected crypto donations were mostly converted into USDC.
Major contributors to Trump's campaign included famous names such as the Winklevoss twins, founders of the Gemini exchange, and BitGo CEO Mike Belshe.
While Kraken founder and former CEO Jesse Powell donated approximately $845,000 worth of Ethereum, Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett said that Ripple's chief legal officer (CLO) Stuart Alderoty also donated $300,000 worth of XRP to Donald Trump's election campaign.
Trump, who has positioned himself as a pro-crypto candidate, will deliver a keynote speech at a major Bitcoin conference in Nashville, with large fundraising expected.
Because Barron's stated that Trump's participation in the Bitcoin event in Nashville was for fundraising purposes.
According to the news of the US news agency Barron's, the purpose of the speech that former US President Donald Trump will give at the Bitcoin 2024 conference to be held in Nashville this weekend will primarily be to collect campaign donations.
Although crypto investors expect Trump to declare Bitcoin as a US strategic reserve, similar to foreign currencies or oil, experts speaking to Barron's stated that such a move is unlikely to happen in the near term due to legislation.
However, experts predict that Trump's pro-crypto statements could potentially increase Bitcoin prices.
