We are beyond excited to announce the grand opening of Paris in Upland! As the iconic host of the 2024 Summer Olympics, Paris brings a world of history, culture, and excitement to Upland. This launch marks a major milestone as we make city openings more accessible and thrilling than ever before. But that’s not all — alongside Paris, we’re also unveiling the enchanting Starter City of Saint-Denis!

Paris, the “City of Light,” is renowned for its Enlightenment history and stunning illuminations. Nearby, Saint-Denis, named after its first bishop who famously preached even after being beheaded, adds to the region’s rich heritage.

Paris is an iconic and luxurious city, so come expecting to pay a premium price. To accommodate all players, we are also launching the more affordable starter city, Saint-Denis.

Sandbox and Paris: A Perfect Match

First, we are thrilled to announce that Paris will be the official home of the Sandbox neighborhood and headquarters in Upland. This exciting development marks a significant milestone in our ongoing partnership.

The Enfants-Rouges neighborhood, where The Sandbox has their HQ in real-life, will be dropped to LAND and SAND owners following a joint design competition to create a unique architectural style for their Upland home. This neighborhood will open at a later date, Stay tuned!

Upland Property Pre-Sale

In an effort to make city openings more accessible to all players, Paris will open over the span of two days.

Day one will introduce an exciting new feature: the Upland Property Pre-Sale! For the first time ever, ~ 25% of the properties designated for the Paris city opening will be available for purchase directly from the store using UPX USD.

These properties will be delivered directly into players’ accounts, offering a unique opportunity to secure a piece of Paris before the official city opening.

Official City Opening

On day two, we bring you the traditional city opening mechanics. For those who love the thrill of researching cities, hunting for properties, and engaging in competitive gameplay, we have the traditional official city opening just for you.

The city opening for both Paris and Saint-Denise will take place on Thursday, August 1st at 9 AM PT. During this time, the remaining unminted properties, along with any unsold properties from the pre-sale, will be unlocked and available for minting.

Mint master Badges will be available to earn during the Official City Openings. As a reminder, city openings offer a golden opportunity to secure the prestigious Mint Masters badge . Mint Masters introduces four distinct activities available to players during the first three hours of every city opening and expansion. This opens up a competitive and rewarding avenue for players, encouraging you to dive in and seize the chance to earn exclusive badges during these pivotal first three hours!

Note: Some properties in select neighborhoods will remain locked for this release as we prepare exciting future gamification mechanics. Stay tuned for more details!

Collections

We are also bringing back a previous mechanic for revealing collections. Collections for Paris will only be revealed after they have fully minted out.

Each Thursday, any collections that have previously minted out the week prior will be announced. If no collections have minted out, none will be announced. Collections that include locked properties will be revealed as long as the available properties for this release are fully minted out.

This process will continue until the end of Sizzle Season. On Monday, September 16th, after Sizzle Season has ended, any collections not fully minted will be announced, locked, repriced, and reopened for minting.

Travel

To make this launch even more exciting and accessible, players will be able to travel instantly to Paris during the week of the city release.

Starting Now, players can effortlessly explore Paris by clicking a button on the right side of the screen (see image below) to be instantly transported to the city.

Details:

• Universal Access: Teleportation to Paris will be available regardless of your Block Explorer’s current location.
• Cost: The teleportation fee to get dropped in Paris is 1,500 UPX.
• One-Way Teleport: Please note that teleporting into Paris does not include a return trip. Players will need to travel out using traditional methods.

From Paris, players can easily travel to Saint-Denis via train. When it’s time to leave Paris, simply use the airport for your next destination. This new feature ensures the Paris opening is more accessible to more players than ever before!

We are also thrilled to announce that you will now be able to drive to and from Paris from anywhere in Europe, including Porto and the U.K., using your Upland cars. This update makes all of Europe accessible via car, setting the stage for an epic road trip adventure! Get ready to explore the continent like never before!

Theinstant Travel button will be removed on Friday, August 2nd at 9 AM PT.

City Opening Collectors Pass

We are excited to unveil the City Opening Collector’s Passes for Paris and Saint-Denis! Each pass offers a 20% chance — up from the traditional 15% — to mint a collection property, reflecting the iconic allure and flair of Paris. You’ll find out if you’ve secured a collection property once the collection mints out. Don’t miss this enhanced opportunity to own a piece of these legendary cities!
