OP Labs Releases Upgrade Proposal to Fix Security Vulnerabilities Identified in Third-Party Security Audit

Bitget2024/08/17 17:13

According to Optimism governance information, Mofi, a protocol engineer at OP Labs, has released an upgrade proposal, Granite Network Upgrade, to address security vulnerabilities identified in a series of third-party security audits by Spearbit, Cantina and Code4rena, none of which were exploited, and none of which have ever compromised user assets. None of the vulnerabilities have been exploited and user assets have never been threatened. The proposal states that the upgrade will include a series of smart contract upgrades to fix the vulnerabilities identified in the audits, as well as an L2 hard fork to improve the stability and performance of the error-proofing system, and that a license fallback mechanism has been activated out of an abundance of caution to avoid any potential destabilization while the vulnerabilities are being patched. If the proposal is voted on and approved, the Granite Network Upgrade is proposed for September 10th at 16:00 UTC, and has been coordinated with Base and Conduit for launch on the internal development network and Sepolia Superchain.
