Curtis Bashaw, a Republican candidate for the US Senate from New Jersey, has begun accepting Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) donations for his campaign.

This move reflects his alignment with the growing trend of political figures embracing digital assets and Blockchain technology.

Bashaw aims to promote freedom, security, and opportunity for New Jersey residents.

By integrating Bitcoin into his campaign, he positions himself as a supporter of innovation and progress.

The inclusion of Bitcoin as a payment option through Anedot on his campaign website highlights his commitment to modernising the financial system.

New Jersey ranks second in the nation for crypto ownership, according to data from Coinbase.

This high level of cryptocurrency adoption underscores the relevance of Bashaw’s pro-crypto stance.

His support for digital assets aligns with broader political trends where prominent figures are advocating for blockchain technology.

Notable political supporters of cryptocurrency include Miami’s Mayor Francis Suarez and Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis.

Lummis has been involved in efforts to clarify crypto regulations in the US, advocating for clearer guidelines for the industry.

The nonprofit group 'Stand With Crypto' is also pushing for common-sense regulations to support the crypto sector.

In addition, former US President Donald Trump has shown increasing support for crypto in 2024, with his presidential campaign accepting Bitcoin donations.

The growing political backing for cryptocurrencies reflects rising crypto awareness in the US.

According to Security.org’s June 2024 Crypto Adoption and Sentiment Report, 40% of American adults now own crypto, up from 30% in 2023.

The report also reveals that 63% of current crypto owners plan to acquire more over the next year, with Bitcoin being the most sought-after digital asset.

Women’s crypto ownership has surged from 18% in 2023 to 29% at the start of 2024.

Additionally, Bitcoin ETFs are expected to attract up to 29 million American investors.

Institutional investment in crypto has also increased, with major financial entities like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs holding significant positions in Bitcoin ETFs.

As Bitcoin valuation predictions rise, the adoption of crypto in the US continues to advance rapidly.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin was priced at $60,738.34.
