Prometheum Inc., the only SEC-registered crypto securities platform in the United States, announced that it has expanded its custody service for its clients.
While the cryptocurrency industry is fighting the SEC over claims that most cryptocurrencies are securities, Prometheum is acting on the belief that the SEC is right.
According to Coindesk, Prometheum announced that it has added altcoins Optimisim (OP) and The Garph (GRT) to its custody service, in addition to Ethereum (ETH), Uniswap and Arbitrum. This means that it will also hold OP and GRT as securities.
Prometheum CEO Benjamin Kaplan said there has been a lot of interest from potential users, adding:
“We are trying to be the PayPal of the digital asset industry. These five altcoins are just the beginning. We will have a very full vending machine in the future.
We are not here to continue a battle between regulators, we are proceeding under the federal securities laws because we believe this is the best framework to protect customers.”
Prometheum, the first fully registered crypto special purpose brokerage firm (SPBD) under SEC rules, aims to become a comprehensive service provider for digital assets, with plans to begin trading operations soon.
