a16z Crypto Partner: Early-stage projects need to have clear stakeholder groups, Farcaster has an advantage in user diversity
Jane Lippencott, a partner at a16z Crypto, spoke at the first major offline event in Asia for the Farcaster ecosystem - FarCon Asia. She attended the roundtable on "Building Decentralized Social Networks - Opportunities and Challenges" and stated:
For early-stage projects, there may be a need for a united community to gain initial traction, and the quality of content within that community is also very important. Only when the project has very clear stakeholders in this field, and their connections are coherent and high-quality, will it have stronger attachment and higher usage rates.
Personally, I believe user diversity is extremely important. Looking at Twitter's achievements reveals their potential for diverse users. I agree that users might not necessarily care about owning their data but if user data is owned by one network which can be accessed through different client experiences then users could benefit greatly from this setup. What's more crucial is any developer being able to leverage network-built experiences; something Farcaster ecosystem does exceptionally well.
