Bitget Launches OmniConnect for Telegram Transactions Across Multiple Blockchain Networks
The kit allows Telegram mini-apps to access multichain blockchains including Solana, TON and EVM compatible chains.
Bitget Wallet has launched a new software kit called “OmniConnect” allowing users to connect Telegram mini-apps to multichain blockchains including Solana, TON and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible chains.
The latest software aims to converge Web3 technology with Telegram, “positioning Bitget Wallet as a key player in bridging social media with decentralized technologies,” said Bitget .
What are Telegram Mini-Apps?
Telegram mini-apps are web-based applications that can be launched and operated directly within Telegram. Developers use JavaScript to build interfaces, which can replace traditional websites.
Like bots, mini-apps integrate payments using Google Pay and Apple Pay. The apps are increasingly being used for interactions, making services accessible without leaving the Telegram environment.
OmniConnect Will Allow Users to Conduct Transactions
Bitget Wallet said OmniConnect allows the mini-apps to use its wallet for signing and conducting transactions across multiple blockchain networks.
“Previously, Telegram mini-apps could only interact with the TON network, making it difficult to engage with other public chains. Bitget Wallet’s OmniConnect aims to bridge this gap, enabling seamless multi-chain interaction via Bitget Wallet,” said Alvin Kan, COO of Bitget Wallet.
“We’re excited for more developers and blockchain ecosystems to join us in building a more open and thriving Web3 environment on Telegram,” adds Kan.
In August 2024, Bitget Wallet said it saw nearly 2 million downloads, highlighting its rapid growth and popularity among users.
Telegram to Disclose User IP Addresses to Authorities
Earlier this week Telegram updated its terms of service . The messenger group said it will now hand over information to authorities who present valid legal requests, such as search warrants.
This policy shift marks a major development for the platform, which has built its reputation on robust privacy features. Telegram previously positioned itself as a strong advocate for user privacy and security.
Telegram has over 700 million active users. It was often been viewed as a haven for those seeking encrypted communications, free from government surveillance. The new policy, however, suggests that Telegram is now willing to cooperate with law enforcement under certain conditions.
