PwC: Nearly Half of Traditional Hedge Funds Are Getting Involved in Cryptocurrency
As regulatory rules become clearer and exchange-traded funds for cryptocurrencies are launched in the US and Asia, more investors are being drawn to the cryptocurrency category. Nearly half of the hedge funds that focus on traditional asset categories are now involved in cryptocurrency.
According to the Global Cryptocurrency Hedge Fund Report released on Thursday by the Alternative Investment Management Association and PwC, 47% of hedge funds that trade in traditional markets hold digital assets, up from 29% in 2023 and 37% in 2022. The survey found that 67% of the funds that have already invested plan to keep their cryptocurrency capital at the same level, while the remaining funds plan to increase their investments by the end of 2024.
