Kamala Harris Promotes Crypto, Seeks Support from Black Entrepreneurs
- Kamala Harris proposes 1 million forgivable loans to help Black entrepreneurs start businesses.
- Harris pushes for clear crypto regulations to support Black Americans.
- Harris plans to create job pathways and expand health care in Black communities across the US.
Vice President Kamala Harris has put her attention on Black men as she campaigns for the upcoming US election. Her new strategy includes plans for financial security and opportunities in the growing cryptocurrency market. Even though polls show Donald Trump gaining support among Black men, Harris is working to win back voters.
On Monday, Harris introduced a plan that would provide 1 million forgivable loans of up to $20,000. The goal is to help Black entrepreneurs who have faced challenges in getting financing. The loans aim to help more people start their own businesses.
Focus on Crypto
Harris is also addressing the growing interest in cryptocurrency among Black Americans. She plans to push for clearer crypto regulations, hoping to give Black investors more security when it comes to digital assets. Many people in the community have turned to crypto as an alternative way to build wealth and Harris wants to make that easier.
In addition to crypto, she is working with Congress on legalizing recreational marijuana and has plans to open up business opportunities for Black men in the cannabis industry.
Jobs and Health Care
Harris is also focused on creating more jobs. Her plan includes apprenticeships and new ways for Black men to find steady work. She also wants to expand health care programs for Black communities.
Trump’s growing support among Black voters is a concern for Harris. About 15% of Black voters say they will vote for him. This marks a 6% uptick from 2020. Harris is trying to keep that number from growing any further, especially as Trump’s campaign works to appeal to Black men.
Trump’s Economic Appeal
Trump has been reaching out to Black men, talking about economic growth and job creation. His message is resonating with particularly those interested in financial opportunities like crypto. Harris’ response is to offer a clear path forward with regulated crypto investment and business loans. She believes this will attract Black men who are looking for stability and opportunity in uncertain times.
Obama’s Message
As Harris campaigns, Barack Obama recently spoke to Black men who may be unsure about voting for her. At a campaign event, he said it’s important not to overlook Harris as a candidate, calling out some voters for looking for reasons not to support her.
Harris plans to attend events aimed at connecting with Black men in the coming days. She will host NFL and NCAA watch parties at Black-owned bars in swing states and also take part in a town hall with Charlamagne tha God in Detroit. Her goal is to talk directly to Black men about their future, with a focus on crypto and economic opportunities.
