The meme supercycle has begun, who is the true king of calls?
Is the meme supercycle just beginning? Let's verify it with time.
Background
Meme coins have been frequently mentioned during this cycle and are the strongest rising trend. Recently, KOL Murad gave a speech about the meme coin super cycle at the TOKEN2049 conference, where he believes there will be a meme frenzy for another 8 to 14 months and released a list of meme coins he is optimistic about, making bold calls. Among them, he is most optimistic about SPX, which had a market cap of only about $10 million when he first bought in, and is currently valued at about $750 million, yielding a profit of up to $8.3 million, thus becoming the new generation meme coin god.
At the same time, he is actively "preaching" on Twitter, repeatedly mentioning coins such as SPX, GIGA, PEPE, SIGMA, APU, and POPCAT.
However, even before Murad vigorously promoted memes, many meme coin KOLs had been making frequent calls. WOO X Research has compiled the performance of the coins they called since October in this article to explore who the true meme call king is.
Murad @MustStopMurad
Call Style: Prefers cult-style meme coins, with SPX mentioned the most, followed by GIGA and POPCAT. The meme coins recommended by Murad mostly have a market cap between $300M and $1.5B, with fewer calls on small-cap coins. Essentially, the current price requires a smaller increase to reach historical highs, indicating a smaller retracement for meme coins.
Ansem @blknoiz06
Profile: The most well-known KOL on Solana, famous for calling out when SOL was at $1.5, followed by calls on BONK and WIF, which achieved 80x and 500x gains respectively.
Call Style:
Ansem not only calls meme coins but also includes "regular" projects like ENA, FTM, PRIME, CROWN, HNT, XNET, CHEX, etc. Recently, he has been very optimistic about the FTM chain, believing it will perform like SOL did back in the day, and he is actively promoting the meme coins GOGLZ and EQUAL related to FTM. After his calls, the coin prices performed well, showing significant upward potential and small retracement.
The meme coins he called are also of medium to high market cap, with WIF mentioned the most, followed by MEW. However, his Twitter feed is quite chaotic, with retweets making up 80% of his posts, often exceeding dozens in a day. Additionally, he has repeatedly retweeted Murad's posts, strongly agreeing with his meme philosophy and stating that he is also part of the Murad Team.
POW @traderpow
Profile: An on-chain Degen player with over 80,000 followers on Telegram, primarily sending timely 1.5-level meme coin call signals. Due to the high frequency of Telegram messages, which mostly involve small-cap coins, the following statistics are based on Twitter mentions, excluding Telegram calls. Among them, CB, LABUBU, and 🧲 are projects launched after October, with the increase calculated based on the closing price on the first day.
Call Style: Prefers to call small-cap meme coins. The previously mentioned CB, LABUBU, and 🧲 have all retraced over 50% from their peaks. Except for MOG, MEW, and SPX, the other coins are all over 40% away from their historical highs, indicating that POW is more adept at short-term PVP meme calls, but performs poorly from a long-term perspective.
POΞ@Poe_Ether
Profile: A Degen with nearly 200,000 Twitter followers and over 40,000 followers on Telegram. The average reading volume on Twitter is about 15,000.
Call Style: Makes many calls, mostly on medium to small-cap coins, with calls being quite timely. Involves public chains not only ETH and SOL but also BASE and SUI, with GIGA being the most frequently called. Among them, SPX, GIGA, BITCOIN, GOAT, HODL, LOCKIN, and KEYCAT have small retracement, with the worst performance related to current events and DOGE-themed concepts.
Conclusion
The coins mentioned by all four KOLs include SPX, followed by GIGA, BITCOIN, and MOG, which were mentioned by three of them. A common feature is that they all have "cult attributes."
Notably, LOCKIN has also made a star out of the ordinary person @ctlarp, who firmly holds this coin, having held it for 136 days before the deadline, with a value exceeding $700,000. His Twitter page is entirely filled with content related to this coin, fitting the "cult atmosphere" perfectly.
Returning to the four KOLs mentioned in this article, they are all well-known meme players, but their styles of "calling" differ.
From the statistical results, Murad is the most stable, while POW and POE excel at PVP, and Ansem is venturing into new territory with FTM.
