Billionaires in the Cryptocurrency Industry Donate to Political Campaigns for Trump and Harris
Several billionaires linked to the cryptocurrency industry have endorsed and donated to political campaigns for both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, with digital currency becoming a growing factor in elections. The Winklevoss twins donated about $1 million in bitcoin to support Trump's campaign, while Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen endorsed Harris and donated $1.9 million to support her campaign. Venture capitalist Marc Andreessen reportedly donated $2.5 million to a super PAC supporting Trump's campaign, while Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has publicly supported Harris. Some pro-crypto billionaires have also made political donations to other candidates, including Sen. JD Vance and a PAC calling for President Joe Biden to drop out of the race. Despite previous criticism of cryptocurrencies, both Trump and Harris have expressed support for digital assets, but the Biden administration's stricter approach to regulation has faced criticism from some in the crypto industry.
