Data from mempool.space shows that the transaction fee for the Bitcoin network has surged to over 400 satoshis/byte, with medium priority temporarily reported at 430 satoshis/byte and high priority at 610 satoshis/byte. The reason is that a new rune called MEMENTO•MORI deployed by Ordinals founder Casey will start minting at block height 868186, with a total volume of 100 million runes, reserving 50%.
