The states of Indiana and Kentucky in the United States are the first to finish voting in the presidential election
At 18:00 Eastern Time on November 5th (07:00 Singapore time on the 6th), except for a few congressional districts, voting stations in Indiana and Kentucky were successively closed, making them the first two states to finish voting in the 2024 US presidential election. The counting of votes began immediately. Local time on the 5th was the official voting day for the US presidential election. Due to differences in time zones and state regulations, each state's end of voting times varied that day. The last state to finish voting was Alaska, which ended at 01:00 Eastern Time on November 6th (14:00 Singapore time). Hawaii was second-to-last, ending its vote at midnight Eastern Time on November 6th (13:00 Singapore time). If there is no close race, major American media outlets may predict winners as early as election night; otherwise it could take several days to determine who won.
