Ripple launches crypto education nonprofit with $50M grant
Ripple Labs has launched the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA), a nonprofit organisation dedicated to enhancing crypto literacy and promoting safe adoption across the United States.
The NCA will receive a $50 million grant from Ripple (CRYPTO:XRP) to support its mission of educating Americans about the benefits and uses of cryptocurrency.
Stuart Alderoty, Ripple's Chief Legal Officer, will serve as the president of the NCA while maintaining his role at Ripple.
The organisation aims to provide educational resources and share stories of crypto adoption to help Americans better understand digital assets.
"NCA is here to cut through the noise and make sure everyday Americans have the facts, resources and tools, and support they need to engage with crypto confidently," Alderoty noted.
The NCA's formation follows a survey of 10,000 U.S. crypto holders, which found that 81% are eager to learn more about the future of crypto.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse emphasised that the organisation will operate independently, despite Ripple's financial support, and will focus on showcasing the positive impacts of crypto on everyday people.
Ripple's support for the NCA comes as the company continues to navigate legal challenges, including an ongoing appeal by the SEC.
Despite these legal issues, Ripple remains active in U.S. crypto policy discussions, with CEO Brad Garlinghouse planning to attend a White House crypto summit on March 7.
The NCA is registered as a 501(c)(4) organisation, allowing it to accept donations without disclosing donors and engage in limited advocacy activities.
However, Alderoty has emphasised that the NCA is "politically agnostic" and focused on consumer education rather than political advocacy.
At the time of reporting, the XRP (XRP) price was $2.53.
