Telegram crypto wallet adds Litecoin support for all non-U.S. users
Litecoin is now available in Wallet in Telegram, the crypto wallet that lets users buy, sell, and transfer crypto on Telegram.
The Litecoin Foundation announced on March 24, 2025, that Litecoin ( LTC ), currently the world’s 24th largest cryptocurrency with a market cap of $7.1 billion, is available in Wallet in Telegram.
LTC support in Telegram’s internal wallet sees the altcoin join other top coins in being accessible to potentially 1 billion of Telegram’s monthly active users.
According to the announcement , all non-U.S. users can now buy and sell LTC via the non-custodial wallet, with this seeing Litecoin join the likes of Bitcoin ( BTC ), Toncoin ( TON ) and Tether ( USDT ).
The wallet also supports multiple gaming tokens.
While non-U.S. users can buy, trade, and sell Litecoin through the Telegram wallet, external transfers are initially unavailable. This means users cannot transfer Litecoin to or from the wallet at this time.
Support for Litecoin in Telegram’s wallet comes as the encrypted messaging platform gains traction in the crypto space. The rise of tap-to-earn games and the rollout of mini-app support exclusively on the TON Blockchain have helped strengthen Telegram’s position in the market.
Litecoin may benefit from the overall increase in adoption.
“The integration of Litecoin into Telegram is a significant step forward in the convergence of messaging and cryptocurrency. As digital currencies continue to gain traction, platforms like Telegram are paving the way for more innovative solutions that cater to the needs of users,” Litecoin Foundation wrote.
Earlier this month, Wallet in Telegram revealed that users will soon have access to buying and trading hundreds of cryptocurrencies. In addition to leading crypto assets by market cap, the wallet plans to add support for popular meme coins and other tokens.
Wallet users with TON and USDT will also have a chance to earn passive rewards when they hodl.
Telegram is looking to incentivize adoption and user growth with free Litecoin purchases. Users who want to experience Litecoin through the wallet app will have zero fees for the next seven days.
