Polymarket betting odds show a 60% chance of Trump-Harris debate
Polymarket, a blockchain-based prediction platform, currently shows a 60% probability that former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will participate in a second debate before the U.S. presidential election.
Despite no official announcement for a follow-up debate since their first encounter on September 10, 2024, the platform’s odds suggest significant interest in another face-off.
The market rules on Polymarket specify that the wager will resolve to ‘Yes’ if a second debate between Trump and Harris takes place by November 4, 2024, 11:59 PM ET, based on credible reporting.
Otherwise, it will resolve to ‘No.’ As of now, the total wager pool stands at $140,404.
Following the September debate, there were signals from both campaigns about the possibility of another meeting.
The Harris campaign expressed enthusiasm for a potential rematch in October, while a CNN correspondent reported Trump’s willingness to participate in debates hosted by NBC and Fox.
“Trump says just now he’d do an NBC debate and he’d do a Fox debate,” CNN's Hadas Gold reported on September 11.
While no formal plans for another debate have been confirmed, the current betting odds on Polymarket reflect public speculation and interest in a second confrontation between the two candidates.
As of September 12, 2024, Polymarket bettors appear slightly more confident in Harris, giving her a 50% chance of winning the debate, with Trump closely behind at 49%.
The final decision will depend on the campaigns' negotiations and any potential scheduling by the debate organizers.
Until then, the odds on Polymarket suggest that many are betting on the possibility of a rematch between Trump and Harris.
